ORGANIC PHILOSOPHY

Pemberton Distillery & Schramm Vodka are Certified Organic by PACS to the Canadian National Standard.

We trust the health benefits of organic products and do not use any GMO products nor chemical and synthetic additives in our spirits.

Our distillery is a Certified Organic Processor. We support the core values of organic agriculture and processing. We rely on the future health of the Pemberton Valley's fertile soils and pristine water for our vodka, and our family.

REDUCING WASTE

We purchase culled potatoes from the Across the Creek Organics farm. Too big or small to sell to supermarkets, these potatoes are composted as waste. But for us they are, as Farmer Bruce Miller says, "perfect for making vodka!" Its also a great way to add value to our local agriculture.

From field to bottle and back to the field! We give away spent mash from processing to local farmers as organic feed and compost. Spent mash has no remaining alcohol and is high in protein and nutrients. "Pembi", the 500lb pig at North Arm Farm, loves our mash!

REDUCING FUEL

Our potatoes are grown and harvested at Across the Creek Organics located just 15km from the Distillery.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

We are in the process of installing geothermal heating and cooling in the distillery to reduce our energy usage up to 40% (ready in 2011!).

SUPPORTING LOCAL

We support local business and purchase locally whenever possible. Our potatoes are from a local family farm, our malted barley from a malt house in the Okanagan (the smallest malt house in North America!), our bottles are silkscreen printed in BC and our water comes direct from the mountains behind the distillery.

In addition to our raw materials, we purchase all our custom retail merchandise from local BC businesses - from our speciality glassware, vodka infused truffles, birchwood gift scrolls and reclaimed cedar boxes to our t-shirts, hats, hoodies and stickers.
